14 course theorbo in A built by Adrian Dodd & Lawrence Dodd (2019)
A new theorbo/chitarrone tuned in A (A=440Hz) entirely hand-made by Adrian Dodd and Lawrence Dodd (2019) with string lengths of 82cm and 164cm. The bowl is modelled after Matteo Sellas but with a reduced number of ribs and is made out of plain yew with black lines. It has a fine grade (AAA) Alpine spruce soundboard, ebony veneered neck and fingerboard, blackened extension and blackened plum pegs and bridge. The soundboard edging is ebony.
This instrument has a full ten tied frets to the neck making it well suited to the solo repertoire as well as for accompaniment. Its disposition is for single stringing with the option of either six or seven courses on the fingerboard. It is currently strung in Nylgut with Aquila Red Series CD basses on the sixth and seventh courses.
